Mechanism of Action

How Colloidal Silicic Acid Works

BHW Silicol®gel contains colloidal silicic acid, a natural compound of silicon and oxygen in a hydrated form. Silicon is the second most abundant element on Earth and is found naturally as silicon dioxide.

Protective Barrier

The gel forms a protective and soothing physical barrier along the mucosal lining of the stomach and intestines.

Binds Irritants

Due to its high surface area and charge, the silica particles attract and bind irritants, bacteria, toxins, and pathogens (adsorption not absorption).

Relieves Acid & Gas

Excess gastric acid and gases are also adsorbed, relieving the pressure and pain of bloating and reflux.

Naturally Expelled

As the gastrointestinal tract empties, all bound material is safely expelled the silica is not absorbed by the body.

Microbiome

Your Gut Microbiome & Digestive Health

The gut microbiome;  the trillions of bacteria living in your digestive tract  plays a central role in immune function, mood, metabolism, and overall wellness. When disrupted by toxins, pathogens, or poor diet, it can trigger IBS, bloating, diarrhoea, and more.

Selective by nature.

Adsorbs harmful bacteria and toxins while leaving beneficial flora intact.

Non-pharmacological.

A physical, clinically backed option — can be taken with a 1-hour gap around medicines.

Gentle daily use.

Recommended 4-week course, 4–7 day break, then repeat as needed.

1 in 10

Over 1 in 10 people worldwide live with IBS. Many go undiagnosed for years. Silicol®gel offers a non-pharmacological, clinically backed option.
